Board-on-Board Wood Fencing: Overlapping Pickets and a Planned Gate

4 Tradesmen Fencing · Serving Jacksonville, FL

This design overlaps the wood pickets. Tommy points out taller posts planned so the homeowner can add solar light caps later.

Look closely at the pickets

In a board-on-board fence, one set of boards overlaps the gaps between another. The layered layout produces a different finished face from a side-by-side stockade fence. It is useful when you prefer the visual depth of overlapping wood and want to discuss how the coverage will look as lumber ages.

In the project photo, Tommy is pointing out the posts left higher so the homeowner could add solar light caps later. The caps were an option for the homeowner, not an installed feature in the photo. Plan any lighting or gate hardware early so post heights and locations fit the finished design.

About $32 per linear foot

Our board-on-board wood fence design is about $32 per linear foot, subject to a written estimate. The total depends on length, height, gates, removal, access, layout, and site conditions. A run with corners and a wide gate needs a different scope from a straight run.

When you contact us, tell Tommy what privacy you want, where people or equipment need access, and whether you plan to add lights. We can discuss the overlap pattern and the gate as one design instead of treating the gate as an afterthought.
